In order for Risk Insure Pty Ltd (Risk Insure) to offer you our services and products we are required to collect and make the most efficient use of your personal information. However it is important to us that you are confident that any of your personal information is treated with the appropriate degree of privacy.

When you use this website and when you transact with us online, we are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and to handling your personal information in a responsible manner in accordance with the Privacy Act.

Personal Information means:

Any information about you that identifies you or by which your identity can be reasonably determined.

Why do we need to collect your personal information?

Collecting your personal information is essential for Risk Insure to be able to provide you with the products and services we offer.

By collecting your personal information we:

  • Can set up and administer products and services and determine what your requirements are and supply you with the appropriate products and services.
  • Assess a claim made by you under one or more of our products.
  • Improve our products and services.
  • Able to identify you and protect you from unauthorised access to your personal information, accounts or services.

How do we collect your personal information?

Where possible we will collect your personal information direct from you. Risk Insure may collect your personal information from different ways, such as when you complete an application form for a product or request a product or service over the telephone or Internet.

Risk Insure may also obtain your personal information from other sources such as:

  • Your mobile phone network provider or mobile phone supplier or retailer.
  • An insurance investigation or reference service in the course of assessing your claim or a request for a policy of insurance.
  • In most cases we will require you to consent to any collection, use or disclosure of your personal information by Risk Insure. This consent forms part of the application that is on this website when applying for a policy of insurance.

If you provide Personal Information to us about another person, we rely on you to have made or make them aware that you will, or may, provide their information to us and the types of third parties we may provide it to, the relevant purposes we and any of the third parties will use it for and how they can access it. If it is Sensitive Information we rely on you to have obtained their consent on these matters. If you have not done, or will not do, either of these things, you must tell us before you provide the relevant Personal Information.

Should you not consent to Risk Insure utilising a third party please be advised this could hinder the progress or payment of your claim.

Marketing

Risk Insure may use your personal information to inform you about our other products or services.

On occasion, we, and our Related Companies, may use your Personal Information to provide you with information about the products and services we offer.

You can, however, change your mind about receiving information about our products and services at any time by contacting us as above.

Is your personal information disclosed to anyone?

There are certain circumstances where Risk Insure may have to disclose your personal information. An example might be if we are instructed or authorised by law to disclose your personal information.

If Risk Insure has received consent from you, we may also disclose your personal information. Your consent to the disclosure of your personal information may be given in writing or verbally or may be implied from your conduct.

Your personal information may also be disclosed to The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd (Hollard) who is the product issuer for some of our products. Hollard have granted Risk Insure a binder to act as its agent to arrange for the issue, variation or disposal of some of its products as if it were Hollard.

Risk Insure may also disclose your personal information to some of the following parties but not limited to: other insurers, insurance reference agencies, assessors or investigative service providers for the purpose of the assessment of insurance claims.

Keeping your personal information up to date.

In order for us to keep your personal information up to date we will ask you to tell us of any changes to your personal information. You can contact us at any time to update your personal information or tell us that the information we hold about you is not accurate.

Do you keep my personal information secure?

We are committed to keeping your Personal Information secure and will use all reasonable precautions to protect it from loss, misuse or unauthorised alteration, including:

  • Physically securing external and internal premises;
  • Maintaining computer and network security such as user identifiers and passwords to control access to computer systems;
  • Restricting access to your Personal Information to employees or those who perform services on our behalf who are authorised to handle your Personal Information and on a 'need to know' basis;
  • Entering into confidentiality agreements with relevant employees and third parties;
  • Appropriate training of staff;
  • Tetaining your Personal Information for no longer than it is reasonably required to service a policy or continue to provide any products and services requested by you, unless we are required by law to retain it for longer;
  • Taking reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify Personal Information that we no longer require.

Can you access your personal information?

You may request access to your personal information that we hold about you.

Risk Insure may refuse you access to your personal information in some circumstances such as where the information may relate to any legal proceedings with you, or is required or authorised by law.

If we deny you access to your personal information we will explain why.

This Privacy Policy may change as required.

All policies and procedures are regularly updated with changes in law, technology and market practice.
